A roadside bomb
reminds us children
of our war-torn town
Where a friend of mine
With her baby son
And 2 others were mown down
Bone splinters pools of blood
still etched onto the sandy street
I'm dressed in my tunic
With blue boots on my feet
When I made my way to school today
It was so hot in Baghdad
Really I don't want to stay here
I am very sad
And frightened for I understand
Although I'm only 7
That I may be a statistic soon
When I make my way to Heaven
