Sunrises

Sun rises in Ecuador are special
Like seas scapes how the sky seems streaked with fire
The silhouette of city domes and silent spires
Of this picture in my heart I never tire
The golden yellow and purple warmth is evident
As the orange comes to take my breath away
And sucks in light that heralds a beginning
The beauty of a fresh and gorgeous day
And here beside me stands my friend Cristina
remarkable in every single way
Ebony hair and a look that is so meaningful
Quito is awake what can I say
The sun hangs, and its splendour is upon us
Ecuador means everything to me
Sunrises are clearly God's gift that is the position
To a land and people uniquely placed and free
