Have you heard the story
I reckon it is true
Alex, the great astronaut
From Hemel, and his crew
of brave decisive youngsters
Are off to Lunar skies
Visiting the Planet Mars
the envy of most guys

The lift off is to be 13,00 hours
I hear,
From Gadebridge Park
just by the swings
if the weather's clear
Timo the computer man who reads a
lot of books
was there to see his brother off
Beyond the tree of rooks
High into oblivion
Astronaut supreme
In his suit, his laser gun
this time was, no dream

Reality, its blast off
the jet propulsion drive
Great clouds of smoke
Huge licks of fire
Its great to be alive
Speeding at a rate of knots, into the sky so bright
On the way to Mars
A million miles
from Cooks Delight

Tremendous speed the rockets
increase and warp drive, grows
And Alex is the Captain
and outside the great tail glows
Meanwhile on Mars where there is life
The creatures stir, for they
Particularly the Christophers
Excited by the day
Pick rock cakes and drink rock milk
from the crevices on the ground
Eight inch creatures, coloured blue
Who rarely make a sound

very rubbery tentacles allow
these beasts to eat
Martian Dust and peanut mash
Nutritionally complete
Tunnels run deep under ground
and in caverns far below
The Christophers prefer to live
and very seldom show

Alex fires his retro's
and was in orbit once again
The Planet Mars up in the stars
Was once more in his brain
Red rocks, red dust,red eyes
Down the ladder he
Walked observing everything
Around him instantly

Leanne the alien space dog
She gave out a yelping whine
Chewing on a space cow bone
Had to be the sign
That life on mars was obvious
Life on Mars was true
Twinkle twinkle litte star
Really who are you?

Timo meanwhile sits at home
in Hemel
All those many million miles away
You could hear a pin drop in the Gadebridge park
And up the street to the MI motorway
The joys of being weightless
are significant
Alex loves the feeling thats for sure
Living on the space station
walking in the clouds
is clearly what Alex believes life's for

Space Aliens and UFO's are everywhere
Mars is packed with monsters big and small
Robots on great metal cogs patrol the streets
Whilst smaller creatures just protect the wall

Robot crabs on 60 foot steel girders
with machine gun posts are there for all to see
Great white lights their eyes its hard to get away
The red dust clouds take so much out of me
Space Aliens the race is out there actually
Alex and his relatives are high
Up there in the race to conquer Planet Mars
Before the glaciars melt and food stocks die

They are charged to find the new horizon
they the pioneers it seems to me
as a bystander imagining the mountains
crumbling and filling up the sea
Have you heard the story
I reckon it is true
Alex the great Astronaut
Saviour of the world we knew

Global change and Solar power
The quest for meteorite
Space Aliens are out there
Over Cooks delight

A story for Alex,Timo, Christopher and Leanne
who all came into the shop today
