The Shrimp and the Crab

Looking back on my life
Said the Shrimp to the Crab
I feel fortunate not to now
be on some slab
My poor body butterflyed
and just immersed
In a pot of hot water
as if I was cursed

Instead I have managed
To stay in the sea
To play by this coral
Yes Fiddledee dee
And spend time with you
Mr Crab my dear friend
You have taught me a lot
About life for I tend
To be just a bit negative
So what you do
You move rather slowly
But dig very fast
You scuttle when cuttle
swims by, your aghast
at her prowess I know, that
she dresses so well
But then Crab you do
have a rather nice shell!
Its covered in weeds and barnacles too
So where you go they go
They see what you do
That's a great arrangement
Do you feel content?
Do they live there for nothing
Or do you charge rent?

a nonsense piece inspired by the lady in red
