The new and easy source of natural gas No one charging what they like and threatening to raise Its locally produced infact and so worthy of praise America is out ahead, bore holes everywhere Marcellus shale, just leaves me pale With feelings of despair I am old and weary, the repercussions they Will not affect me actually, its the children that will pay People have been suffering, and some have lost a lot Fresh water from the taps, not any more oh no they've got Contaminated water, undrinkable alas Aquifers are being breached and lakes an pools en masse Destroyed by fracking chemicals The water loss immense Potable not ever You see it makes no sense Its very very selfish in a world where water's scarce Already we see people grubbiing the mud no purse Deep enough to find the water that once might have been Flowing from that wondrous ground From those verdant slopes of green Some are being forced each day to drink some nasty stuff And America is wasting much more than enough Each drill hole can take 13 million gallons Actually from 2 to 13 in effect Laced with such obnoxious filthy chemicals Nothing any of us living dare expect Its sucked up from the shale and stored in ponds and then Shipped by tanker into deeper wells by ignorant men It gets into the water, it comes back to our land Radon, radiation and a cocktail most can't stand But honestly for fear of panicking readers it is true Fracking is an evil that is going to hurt you Bradford County, Pennysylvania see hell on earth Today Insanity is clearly in the souls of men I'd say Compounded by those dollar bills But my God what they do Is completly screw up environments yea and your land too Imagine 40,000 gallons of some toxic stew That bubbles out of no where Yes mate all over you Your land, your house, your garden the ponds, the rivers too The reservoirs, it soaks into the earth this frightening brew And frever it will stay there it does not biodegrade Shale gas leaves its legacy and it will never fade And as we waster much energy is fracturing our food Our children will be forced to watch The toxins just exude From them, this is the evil That we shall leave behind A few made heaps of money but the rest of us were blind We had eyes, but we failed to see We had souls but destroyed Everything around us Which the children can't avoid For cancers and leukamia Will be rampant, to every school Death will march on in there and take out, one and all. Don't let the bastards do it Be man enough to say Take you fracking chemicals and just go one your way Our homelands are so sacred We'd rather now use less That let you turn our precious land into a complete mess. |
