Our trip to the Telefrigo was last week When the sun was remarkably hot They came for us and took us up their by car And Oh! what a great view we got Its a bit of a pain walking up all those stairs And the escalators had broken down But we got to the place where the cable cars race up the mountain away from the town 5 people cars whisk you up to the stars And my friends all of them nervously Were sweating a bit frightened, just to sit But they came and they did it for me If you pay double fare you get put in a line And you get express treatment to me that was fine So I paid for them all and we were soon on our way To the Top of the World thats what people say Of course its much colder so what you must do Is take a thick sweater to enjoy the view Quito spreads into the valleys below it has such expression it just seems to grow Outwards and inwards its just everywhere caressing the mountain with really such care the rooves multi-coloured, reflections of cars It does look like toytown viewed now from Mars And then Cotopaxi the greatest of all She's the mother of all volcanoes so tall Her beautiful form unchallenged I'd say A wonderful sight that takes your breath away The new airport site, yes it you can see We stopped and took photo's Its a great place to be Then back down the mountain white faces and tears Down to the fun fair that generates fears They wanted to go on the most dangerous ride But for me with my leg it would have been suicide So I sat in the sun watching others display A great deal of nerve and involvment that day Then back to our friends for a lovely late lunch Potato and corn soup, and salad and munch some figs in raw sugar, and fresh juice so sweet A wonderful day that will be hard to beat. Thanks to all the friends who made it possible |
